Ideas, Stories, and the Search for Something More

My books explore two sides of the same question: What do we become when life forces us to confront who we are? Some of my work approaches that question through philosophy and personal transformation. Some approaches it through horror, darkness, and fiction. Both are about what waits beneath the surface. I publish my philosophy under the pen name D. Jay Baker. I publish my horror under the name Zeno Dasa, so when you see these names know that they are in fact me.

The Philosophy of Being Nobody

Barnes & Noble

The Philosophy of Being Nobody explores identity, struggle, Ego, acceptance, and the freedom that can come from loosening your grip on the person you believe you’re supposed to be.

It was shaped by my own experiences with hardship, change, uncertainty, and the Search for a better way to move through life. Being “Nobody” does not mean believing you’re insignificant. It means learning to separate yourself from the labels, expectations, fears, and stories that can quietly begin controlling you life. It’s about becoming more aware of who you are, accepting where you stand, and choosing what comes next. Sometimes finding yourself begins by letting go of who you thought you had to be.

The Conversations with the Shadows

Some things are easier to face when we call them monsters.

Conversations with the Shadows steps away from mainstream philosophy and into horror. It’s a dark, psychologival story about the things we fea, the things we hide from, and what happens when the darkness we try to ignore begins looking back. Through horror, the story explores many of the same themes that run through the rest of my work, identity, fear, suffering, transformation, and parts of ourselves we would rather leave buried.

If you like atmospheric horror, unsettling ideas, and stories that stay with you after the final page, this is where I invite you to step into the shadows.
